Wedding Hair and Makeup FAQ's
Frequently asked questions you should ask your potential wedding hair and makeup artist.

Continuing with the theme of helping you plan your wedding day and tips from top local wedding professionals, here is a list of the most common questions hair and makeup artist Heather Manning gets asked by brides-to-be and her answers:
1. Can you do both hair and makeup?
Heather can, however it does depend on whether the artist is trained appropriately in each area. Also think about the size of your wedding party and timings of the day - for a large party, it may be more appropriate to have separate for practical and timing purposes.
2. What does the price include?
Heather includes everything in her price because she puts together an appropriate package based on your requirements (mileage, material expenses, time etc). But some artists may do a price per person and add expenses on top which they'll make clear anyway (or should do so, if you are not certain of anything make sure to ask the artist).
3. When do you recommend booking a trial?
Heather’s advice is to arrange a trial for about 6 weeks-2months before because that gives enough time to iron out any issues (and for the bride to change her mind) but is close enough to the day that'll it'll be fresh in everyone's mind. It also gives enough time to pick out any accessorises you may like to purchase such as hair vines.
4. How long will it take?
This is very subjective to each client, complexity of the style and if the artist is completing both hair and makeup. Heather aims for 45mins to an hour per person.
5. Do you come to the venue?
Yes, Heather attends the venue on the day and the bride's house for the trial (most artists do this and mileage price should reflect this).
6. Will the makeup last all day?
Yes, it should. Heather uses primers, setting powder and finishing spray so it lasts. Her kit also includes different products to suit every skin type.
7. How far in advance should I book hair and makeup?
It depends on the artist and their availability but the sooner the better, especially those Saturday’s in peak wedding season.
8. What hair/skincare preparations need to be done before the artist arrives?
Heather normally asks for hair to be washed the night before and your normal skincare routine is fine as she will prep/moisturise the skin anyway.
9. When does the deposit and final fee need to be paid?
This will be subject to the individual hair / makeup artist terms and conditions. Most will ask for a deposit when booking with balance 2 to 4 weeks prior to the wedding date.
10. Does the price include false lashes?
Heather includes lashes within the price if the bride asks for them. This should be specified in the price breakdown though, again if you are not sure of anything just ask.
